I don't see why not. I use the Puresound (20) strand wires on my snares. Two of the drums I use coated Ambassador X heads and the Yamaha Copper drum I use the regular Ambassador head. Sound great to my ears. With the 14 strands you might be cutting down the snare buzz a bit too. Good luck.

Have you tried out the Puresound Custom Pro Steel? They're pretty cool and offer a great sound with ease of installation and removal. They have a similar sound to the Equalizers (they're crisp and quick responding) and have an Anti-Choke plate design to reduce sympathetic snare buzz + allow for higher snare tensions without choking out the drum. Check em out!

Nice and thanks for the reply. Ive been looking around on this forum and i admit iam obsessed with yamaha maple custom absolutes and i hope one day i will be able to get a MCA kit i only have about 2100 $ which i think is not enough to purchase a used MCA kit in europe, but i hope one day i will get a MCA kit. Arent you that guy who sold his yamaha maple custom absolute right? you prefer the Oaks more than the absolutes? Are the oaks really that great? beacause i heard they are bright in some settings.

I am the guy. I did sell the Absolute kit about a month ago. I just like the Oak Customs better, They fit the music I am playing just fine. You can tune any good drum to fit most your needs IMO. The Absolutes sounded great too don't get me wrong. They are great drums as well. Good luck.
