Default Question on drum heads!

Alright I have a Pearl Export kit. tom sizes are 10x8, 12x9, 14x11.

I'm gonna put new heads on and I was wondering what you all suggested for tom heads made by Evans.

I want a lower punchy sound to it.

Let me know if you guys have more questions

Thanks!

God bless!!

Evans EC2's are great for a low, punchy sound.

You can further shape your sound by using EC Resonants for even more low end and more control, or G-Plus for a little more sustain.

I would highly recommend the ec2's (I use them myself).

Coated or clear? Well its your preference I use the clear. The coated will add additional warmth and focus. What kind of music do you play?

The resonant heads on your kit probably don't need changed. People usually change there resonant heads every 3 or 4 times they buy batter heads.

I've played both, and I think I prefer the clear. Instead of sounding warmer they just sounded a little more "click-y" in the attack, whereas the clear heads have a more satisfying feel under the sticks and a clearer tone.

Changing out the reso heads is completely up to you. I believe you could get a better overall tone out of your toms if you replaced the stock Pearl heads, but they aren't a "do-or-die" purchase at this point.
