I 'll be in Amarillo next weekend. Anyone live there or are famillair with the town and could recommend music stores and restaurants?

Thanks!

The closest I've been is Lubbock, which is about 2 hours south if I remember correctly. I'm a Buddy Holly fan so it was great to see his hometown and memorial.

That whole area is the middle of nowhere. (Side-note: I saw my first-ever tumbleweed there. No kidding, it went through a downtown intersection right along with the cars. Weird...)

And as Mike said, it's REALLY hot; definitely pack the sunscreen. That place is hotter than the sun's a$$.

I live east of there in Oklahoma. I can't speak for music stores because I only pass through there when headed to and from the Rockie Mountains, but like to eat at Cracker Barrel and this place:

Both are close together on Interstate 40, north side. The Big Texan has been on "Man Versus Food" and features the thick 72 oz Porterhouse that if eaten in it's entirety, you get it FREE.

We did the big Texan, it's one of those do it to mark it off the list places. I settled for Guitar Center and picked up some sticks.

Guitar Center in Amarillo? That might be worth checking out next time I go through. The Pawn scene is also alluring. I love Pawn Shops in isolated parts of America. No telling what vintage drums or cymbals they have.
