Default Pics of the Chrome Ludwig's

Here are a few shots of the double bass Chrome Ludwig set I used at a show last night. The first couple shots are after the show, at around 3am, so i'll blame the late night for the poor picture quality and one shot of the drums stacked at home.

I'm working on getting all the sets to the school I teach at to take some quality pics on the stage. Hopefully I'll have some good pictures of all the sets in a few weeks.

Specs:

24x24 kicks 10x12,11x13,14x14,16x16
12x14snare (converted marching drum) 8x10 snare (converted rack tom)

The drums are Ludwig Rocker Elite , circa 1999. They were orphan drums from previous set projects, I re wrapped them and had 2 keller BD shells drilled for Ludwig hardware. I had a couple extra badges so each drum has the same style badge. The reso. heads on the toms are Remo Starfire's and the BD heads are from Vintage Logos.

My first ever was a Ludwig chrome 5 piece, plastic shells with real chrome metal wrapping.

Man, that kit takes me back to 1974 at the Long Beach arena, Albert Bouchard with the Blue Oyster Cult, driving a Ludwig chrome-o-wood kit. Sweet lookin' stage kit. Be careful with the lazer beams.

those badges are accents, they make 24X24 kicks? and chrome drums? where'd you get it, the only solid chrome set i know is the bonham re-issue. but thats at least 5 grand and not that huge!

Bonham kits are stainless steel, not chrome-o-wood. Ludwig was making chrome-o-wood waaay before you were born.

Thanks for the reply's.

DMC, I've seen a couple drums from the 70's that had the true riveted metal covering, pretty darn heavy. If I recall correctly, they wrapped a bunch of white vistalites in an effort to help sell them.

And the badges are Rocker Elite, a series of drums introduced in the late 90's. The had the Rocker series (wrapped finish), Rocker Elite (stained finish) and Rocker Pro (birch shells). These drums were eventually phased out to make way for the various drums in the accent line around 2000. The badge design was carried over.

You gotta post some sounds clips. I'm dying to hear how that 12" deep snare sounds!

Nice set Ludwig 75! In my world, chrome is the best! The first chrome-o-wood (COW) set that I laid eyes on was Bryan Adams' drummer in concert in 1980. Today I am lucky enough to own a dream set of Blue & Olive badge COWs with 10,12,13, 14,15,16 double-headed power toms, an 18" floor tom complemented by a 26" x 14" base drum. The set has a rich, deep, warm sound with good pitch bend. Love to hear a soundbite of your kit and/or band in concert. Post when you can! Enjoy.....

Re-read his description specs of the kit (under the pics) and you'll find your answers.

Nice job L-75!
