Default single chain vs.double chain!

i would just like to know the difference between and single chain drive pedal and double chain drive pedal. which is better? single or double? thank you!

Hi blackmaze123,

For my money it's duplex all the way - less lateral movement - much more solid feeling.

Duplex is marginally heavier and maybe not quite as quick, but these are very minimal impacts that may even be unnoticed.

Consider direct drive also (Axis, Trick etc) - for speed these seem to be the preferred option. ;-)

On some models (e.g. Gibralter), double chain drive pedals increase the pedal's robustness.

I tend to like less mass in my pedals, that way there's less stuff to get going and quicker response. It seems to me that side to side play would be more an issue of the pedal hinge than the chain, you'd have to move the pedal way to the side before the chain maxed out it's potential lateral curve.

Personally I'm fine with single chain.
