Default Someone explain to me what's wrong with my bass pedal...

So today it just kinda screwed up somehow... I'm not really sure how, but something's conked out. (there are pictures)

Someone explain to me what those two floppy pieces of metal are for, what this wingnut/screw does, etc.?

The clamp and screw are to attach the pedal to the hoop of your bass drum.

I had a pedal somewhat similar to this with my first kit. The long piece of metal under the pedal stabilizes the heel, it fits under the wingscrew and there should be a little hole for the peg on its underside.

Then you slide the pedal onto the bass drum hoop, tighten down the screw, and it also tightens that little metal thing down, theoretically making your kick pedal one solid piece of state-of-the-art machinery - state of the 1960's art, but hey.

Yeah, the pedal is not broken. Just slide the peg under the metal piece under the footboard on it's hole, then put the pedal on your bass drum, and that's it.
