Default Going from pinstripes to...?

Alright fellow drummers, I'm fed up with my current heads.

I use Remo Ebony Pinstripes. In all honesty, I can live with them, and they kind of fit my style, but I'd prefer to have heads that sound like I'm hitting drum heads and not thin pieces of plastic.

My initial choice would be to go to Black Suede Emperors, with no idea of what would be a good reso.

Does anyone have a "better" batter head choice? And if I could get recommendations for reso heads that would go well with the suedes, that would be great.

You can start with clear pinstripes instead of ebony. One step more open from pinstripe is clear emperor. For resos: clear ambassador. Floor toms do well with clear emperor on the bottom.

What's with the black heads?

Clear emperors.

In a similar ball park to pinstripes, but more open, more natural drum sound, but without taking you in a radically different direction.

For reso, ambassadors.

This black drum head thing is a big mistake. The colour black absorbs light energy and this heats up the film, causing the mylar to be affected, especially under stage lights or sunlight. Forget about black drum heads!

If you like the sound of pinstripes (I don't), go with clear pinstripes or coated pinstripes. If pinstripes are too dead sounding, go with clear or coated emperor (or smooth white emperors).
