Default Double Bass: DW 5000 or Pearl Powershifter Eliminator

In your opinion, what's the better pedal and why?

DW's by a mile. They're constructed more solidly, the one-bar setup on the slave is great for getting at the hi-hat, the footboard feels better, it's just plain smoother, I could go on. I liked the Elims, and while I only tried out the red cam, I just loved the 5000's so much that I kinda doubt that the Elims could have improved THAT much.

Elims for me.
I really like the Eliminators for a few reasons. 4 interchangeable cams make for a wide variation of feel, the spring tension adjustment is pretty wide (loose to tight)

The *Powershift is an ingenious idea and they're built very sturdily.

+1

I am a beliver in DW's drums and hardware. When it came to choosing a pedal, I could not afford the 9000's so it was a toss up between the Elims & 5000. For reasons that I will NOT make public, I chose the Elims. The flexibility on the power shifter sold me as well as all the possitive experiences of others not to mention I got a GREAT deal on them.

That last point is kinda the thing. At that price range, it's Elims, 5000's, and Cobras. Go with whatever you can get the best deal on, it's kinda doubtful you'll dislike ANY of them. Everyone has preferences, but until you really "live" with the pedal it'll be hard to say definitively which is the "best" for ya.
