Iron Cobra is a high end pedal. dw 7000 is middle classe I guess. In you' re case I would choose the cheaper one.. but I'm no expert. You should check out the forum, there are dozens, even hundreds of threats on double bass pedals... I think there are better pedals than the dw 7000 for that amount of money

I recently bought me a cheap double pedal and I'm quiet content with it.. for now.
and one day I'll buy me an Iron Cobra...

I have an Iron Cobra and love it. I've tried DW pedals and dont like them as much as the Iron Cobra but I know a lot of people here do!
Try both and make your own mind up.

Out of those two I'd get the IC (I have the PG model). But really, you should try them out personally. I'm not really sure about US prices, but certainly have a look at the Pearl Eliminator, Yamaha Flying Dragons (chain and direct drive models), maybe DW 5002s, Axis, etc.

7002s aren't that great, I always liked the Cobras better. I'd get those.

I would definitley go with the iron cobras. One of my favorite pedals out there. But also check out the DW 5000 pedal. Not quite as expensive as the 9000 but in lots of peoples eyes a better one. Idk, its your choice but out of the two you mentioned, i would definitley say the cobras are a better buy.

Tons of pedal discussions in the "other gear" section.

I have the DW 7002 and can't wait to change them, just cant get them adjusted to feel good. I like the 9002 but way too expensive. Have not tried the Iron Cobra but hear good things about them.

Iron Cobra. The hard part is Power-Glide, Rolling-Glide or Flexi-Glide.

I say the iron cobra. I've only messed around on the DW pedal at a local drum shop. they had the 7002, 5000, and the 9000 along with the cobras. The Iron Cobra blew them out of the water IMO. I own the power glide and i am quite satisfied with it. :D

I just upgraded from my DW7000 to Pearl 2000C/B. I tried Yamaha, Tama, all DWs and the Pearl was by far the best IMO. The DW7000 is okay, but its a little flimsy.

Go into a few stores and try every pedal you can. What works/feels right to one person may not feel right to you. And don't be afraid to adjust a pedal in a store. It may be adjusted sweet, for the last guy who played it, but that might not be the comfort zone you have. I had a DW5000A3 and a Yamaha Flying Dragon Direct Drive in my studio for over a month. I did the A/B thing with each, sold the DW on eBay finally and picked up a second Yamaha. Axis, Pearl, Tama, they all make top of the line and intermediate range pedals. Try everything.

I'd go one step further and say you will have to adjust them when you try them out. There's really no way to make an objective comparison between two pedals if you haven't adjusted them so that every setting is as close to the other as possible. I have an IC (power glide), but have no doubt that I could also be happy with a Flying Dragon, Eliminator, DW, whatever...

but it would be hard adjusting to a non-Power-Glide cam on any pedal now that I'm used to it...

Interesting, I had the IC "Rolling Glide" and was not impressed. I also had a DW 9002 and although it was smooth as silk, it was like driving a Tank! I sold both and am currently looking for a new pedal. As mentioned, this time I plan to go try a bunch out at the local shop before purchasing.

I've had my DW 7000 double pedal since christmas and i'm afraid to take it to gigs and practice simply because a screw comes loose or comes off every time i use it.

It's a complete disaster because they're almost impossible to find and the linkage is gradually becoming weaker and weaker...

Please for your own sake, keep that in mind.

I've only played one Iron Cobra before for about 20 seconds and loved it, i wish i had more time to tinker around with it though.

I owned the DW 7000 for two years, they're the worst pedals I've ever bought... To be honest I like the $90 PDP pedals better. If you're budget is $300 that will actually get you pretty far. Take a look at the Gibraltar Intruder II and the Pearl Eliminators, IC's are wonderful pedals, but it can be tricky to find them under $300.

Hope this helps.
