Default Reso Head Question/Decorating

I have a EMAD bass and reso head (with port).

I love the sound and I am satisfied with it, but my band wants me to get a new head without a port so we can put our band logo on it for certain gigs. What reso head would go good with a EMAD batter?

Also, they are trying to get me to put on a felt sticker on the head, would that change the sound for you guys who have decorated your RESO heads?

If you play out miked you probably want to keep a port unless you always do the miking yourself. A lot of sound guys don't want to deal with an unported head. If you invariably play out unmiked, you're better off with an unported head anyway.

Why not have a look at the galleries at Drum Art and at Vintage Logos--many of the designs incorporate a port.

If you stay small (4") you can fit a port into a lot of designs without it being obtrusive.

Vintage Logos will use Evans heads if you want, but Drum Art is Aquarian only. But if you get a removable logo from either place (the solution if you play a variety of gigs in addition to your band's) you can use any smooth white head you want. Just put the logo on when you need it.

Actually DrumArt now offers Evans heads but they charge more for them.

Tell your guitarist you want to put a logo on his guitar and watch him freak out. The reso head is not freaking ad space, its there for a reason. If you like the feel of the ported head tell the band to buy a banner. If you dont mind the feel of an unported reso (I hate it), then make them all pitch in to buy the head and put the logo on it.
