Yeah, crafted in Australia which is awesome.

But they are hella expensive and custom made.

But they are nice looking and good sound quality, suspended lugs, basically no drilling or lugs placed on the shell.

Could you show us a bit more?

Unfortunately those prices are in British Pounds and not Australian Dollars, one 5pc. is more expensive than every bit of my kit priced together.

...and I have a question...

Can you mount the tom-toms on a different brand tom-tom stand (eg. Tama, Pearl etc.) so that the toms can be mounted on a rack or off the bass drum?...You see, the hardware that supports those toms seems to be a bit dodgy.

Hello. I have some older Sleishman images: a brochure and a couple of photos.

These are a few years old now; from 2006, I think. I hope they are of some help.

There drums are innovative for sure and there double-bass pedal is the only double bass pedal I would consider both pedals play exactly alike.

I'm wondering: does that tuning system allow for top and bottom heads to be tuned independently? It seems like tightening the batter side will also tighten the resonant side.

Look at the first picture I posted, you'll notice upper tension rods are independant of the ones on the free floating hardware so to your question; does that tuning system allow for top and bottom heads to be tuned independently ? The answer is yes.

The Pearl free-floating system was based on the Sleishman one.

If you adjust the batter lugs the resonant lugs will be adjust aswell, but to tune the drum you put the reso head on first tune that halfway and then tune the top head.

The Tama Omni-tune system is works with same idea, both Tama and Sleishman say their tuning systems make tuning easier than normal lugs. (basically there are less key turns when tuning)

But Tama's lugs are attached to the shell, the sleishman drums float freely. You can adjust the Tama batter and reso heads independently.

ok...here are some pictures of my baby in the rehearsal studio.
it has 10 years of use and it still has the old type of hardware.
22x20 BD, toms 8x8, 10x10, 12x12, floors 14x14, 16x16.
the snare is a 14x6 spotted gum stave shell with the newer type of hardware.
the cymbals were recently given to me by my dear spouce...:). so that's why they still look brand new........better not mention what she wants in return..;)

the next kit will be a completely stave shell kit for recording.
due to come in 2010.

and ofcourse...take a look at the centred set up.....really easy to play!

About the pedals.
Can you adjust the beater angle indepedent of the cam?

...and...

...is there a noticeable difference in sound between Sleishman drums and those with lugs bolted on?

yes, I can change the angle how I want it.
change the bassdrum height( the pedal connection lets you angle the bassdrum anyway you wish, with out loosing full contact, and you can change the can on the shaft. also you can move the bassdrum horizontal to the front or the back.....the connnector is really awesome!

and yes! a sleishman has more tone than any other drum. it sounds very pure.
also it responds very fast and has a very clear fundamental tone. i can tune my 10' like a 14 or 16" and still with tone...and i can tune a 14" like a timbale and still have tone!
it is very difficult to choke the sound.
bassdrum wise......if your microphone can take it, it still has usable low end down below 30Hz...so it goes twice as deep as a regular bass drum ( 22" mine is)
also, because of the FF system and the shell resonance, the volume is a lot higher than a regular drum, so it is very, very dynamic. also to very soft playing ( snare, bass or toms) it is very responsive.

if you ever are in the neighbourhood of my studio, you are welcome to try it out.

seeiing your previous replies........I asume you are from DO....check out their new Omega series drums...they are THE BOMB and....VERY affordable.

It doesn't look like it. Yes, the upper and lower tension rods can be adjusted independently but turning either will result in more force on the hoop, which the shell cannot counter as it's free floating. That force can only be countered by the opposite hoop.
