Default Are my new Istanbul cymbals damaged + need to send back

Hi all,

I just bought some new 14" istanbul traditional hi hats, and received them the other day. After close inspection i noticed the bottom hat had a small dent / scratch / crack as you can see in the photos. i cant really tell how deep it goes, but there is a defitine gap felt when you run your finger over it.

would you suggest i send these back? I know the istanbul agop cymbals are handmade but surely this is damaged?

your advise is appreciated!

Thanks

Joe

Without a doubt, that cymbal is damaged.

What kind of condition was the box in when you received it?

I would jump on returning as quickly as possible. The longer you wait the more likely the seller is going to question when the damage occurred.

OUCH!!!!!

Looks like a impact wound and appears to have cracked with a fragmented crack all the way through from whatever struck it.

SEND BACK JOE.......

Ditto what Steamer says.

Also, since I assume you bought online, keep in mind that most online dealers have no respect for expensive professional grade cymbals and typically do not protect them properly in packing. Scan them thoroughly as soon as they arrive for shipping damage. I have probably sent 10 cymbals back in my life, mostly edge dents. or scrapes. But forklifts and careless UPS handlers can do amazing things.

Was the box that the cymbal came in damaged? The package would have had to have been damaged for a sharp puncture/dent like that to have occurred. Something extremely heavy, hard, and sharp had to cause that. If it came via UPS or FEDEX, They will pay a claim for the damage. Save the box if you still have it. It will help you, or the seller process the claim. Both UPS and FEDEX are excellent when it comes to processing damage claims. I have a great deal of positive experiences with these two companies.
