Here's some pics from the recent South Delta Jazz Workshop and Jazz Festival July/09.

First up a couple of shots of me from the noon hour show on the first day of the workshop featuring special guest Chris Davis on trumpet and fellow faculty members.

Next up 2 shots from the evening concert with sax player Dave Branter's Quartet. The 2nd pic from Dave's concert features my good buddy and fellow faculty instructor at the South Delta Jazz Workshop bass player Rob Kohler from New Orleans.

Here's a couple of pics from a very cool collaborative performance I did last night between the West Coast Art Trio {formally the Bruce Freedman Trio} and a local dance company at the Roundhouse Performance Theatre in Vancouver B.C.

Duet I did between the drums and one of the dancers in one of nights pieces was a real hit and success.

Very musically interesting adventure and an extremely fun gig!

This is a pic of me on Halloween... Of course it was a costume deal:

All of the paint ran into my eyes and I had to wipe most of it out. I was dressed as William Wallace, Kilt and all.

Default Looking at your Feet

I see so many artist playing gigs just standing there looking at their feet. I realize the young artist may have an issue with self confidence but the sooner you connect with the audience and enjoy the gig the better you will become. Yes this come from year of playing but I often hear really good groups with superb players just standing or setting as the drummer would just looking down and making no visual contact with the audience. Interact and you will really enjoy the gig. Have Fun!
