your rack tom setup reminds me of Aaron Gillespie from underoath

do you find it comfortable playing your racktom so far to the left? it seems odd to me

It's a Zil-Bell. If you put a felt washer in between that and your ride it shouldn't make any difference.

It's not a mini china. It's WAAAY too thick to be a china! It's a bell. Some people put it on top of their ride because they feel the bell on the ride doesn't "jump out" enough in terms of sound.

watch the drummer in this band, you'll see what i mean:

so yeah...

Your right its a zil bell mounted on top of the ride with a felt inbetween so it doesnt make a difference to the sound.

The rack tom placement suits me fine, i like my toms really low and i sit even lower. with the 26" the choice was either raise the rack tom into the skies where i wud need to catch a plane to reach it or shift to the side. but when i used to play a 22" kick i had my toms really low and out to the side anyway so that set up just works for me.

(the top of my rack tom is at the same height as the top of my bass drum.)

just picked up the hardcase for my bass drum the other day its f$*king massive!!! 33" top to bottom!

will post a pic of it and some close ups asap!

Thanks for the nice comments!

You you know you put that 13x9 just over the edge of the bass and tilted using a snare stand so it's about in the same place the old rail mounts would have put it. I have a 26" kick and that's what works for me and I'm not a tall person with long arms so I'm concerned about reach too. The final position will be just over the rim just like Krupa or Rich with their 26 or 28" kicks.
