Default help tuning a 22'' bass drum

i know theres probably several other threads about this but i couldnt find a thread that specifically got the answer i was looking for.

so what heads and tuning would you use to get a bass drum sound like a7x, coheed, breaking benjamin, ect.? it kinda sounds like a slap-cannon (i actually have no idea how to describe how it sounds, i have a terrible time naming what it actually sounds like)

You are never going to be able to reproduce a recorded drum sound. Way too many variables involved from the kit to possible triggers to post production effects added. I have no idea what those guys use but if you are looking for a combo that doesn't give allot of overtones then the Aquarian superkick series and regulator head work well, Evans E-mad and emad reso.

I have to agree. I used a Super Kick II and a Regulator and got a pretty boomy sound from my dinky 22" Tama bass (entry level, ugh). Assuming your bass isn't made of basswood, the heads should do wonders for you.
