I'd go used. Any of the major manufacturers have excellent stands. I like DW hardware but there are lots of good quality designs.

Big dog pro pedal. pretty decent features, big and chunky (strong), cheap (you'll have dosh left) plus you'll be buying form a british company so thats good, repping the UK and all that.

I'm gonna get more big dog gear when I get some money :)

I like the Tama Iron Cobra Lever Glide. You should try some for yourself and decide. Look for things like having only two legs, easy tension adjustments, Smoothness, and quite operation. Decide what features matter to you when you compare stands.

If you ave a chance to check out the Yamaha 840 stand, give it a try. My HS840 feels as good as my Tama Lever Glide or 75W stands and costs about the same as the Tama 75W.

I use a 2-legged dw 5000, works perfect

2-legged stands take up less space

something to consider.

I bought the Tama Road Pro HH75W.

It has all the adjustation (sorry, couldn't resist) you should need. Sensibly priced - bit like the Iron Cobra in terms of good quality/value IMHO, i.e. you can pay more but why?

Anyways it can be set pretty low down - i.e. it's lowest setting was lower than the Mapex, which is why I changed.

I like my HH loooooow.
