Default Speaker infront of bass drum

Hello out there.

Can anyone explain me the thing with putting a speaker in front of the bass drum?

Thomas :)

think of it as a very large diaphragm microphone. perfect for picking up very low frequencies that enhance the low-end of your bass drum through a sound reinforcement system. you can buy a manufactured one (ie Yamaha) or build your own with a decent quality 6 or 8" speaker wired to a male XLR jack

i think its a great way to get a different additional sound from the kick drum.

by the way, elpol, can i see your avatar up close? do you have a larger version of it?
