I've heard Danny's stuff for years and he has only gotten better. I read a recent press release regarding the album "Full Circle" (by his new band, "California Transit Authority") i, and in the press release, it was revealed that Danny recently had signed on for lessons with Joe Porcaro. (I wish I could have been a fly on the wall of Joe's garage at that point!). Danny dedicates the drum solo in "Antonio's Love Jungle" to Papa Jo Jones, "Papa Joe Porcaro" and Purdie. Check out "Full Circle", gang. Acid Jazz from an inventor of Jazz Rock. VERY cool stuff. T |

Danny Seraphine is one of the reasons I started playing the drums. I have followed this guy since Chicago began.
I personally think Tris Imboden is a better overall drummer, but Seraphine is a great one. |

Skacatz---check out "Full Circle". I think you'll like what Danny does there.
ps: Tris is a BEAST. Great player there. |

I've been wondering when a release from that project would happen. I've been a Danny Seraphine fan since my high school days.
A couple of the bands that I was in did some Chicago songs. Great memories. |

Tris may be a better choice for the toned down, "Holiday Inn" type shows Chicago has been doing for years, but Danny was the man for the job for the original band back in the '60's and throughout the '70's. I am not sure that Tris could play with as much fire and enthusiasm as Seraphine did when the music called for it. I do think Tris plays politics better than Danny!

Hey Derek?
I got my copy off itunes. It's a great record. Seraphine got Larry Braggs to do most of the vocals. Killer!!! T |

....YIKES!
*lol* Ok, maybe...but have you heard Tris play harmonica??? He wails! And to each fellow's credit, they both are excellent drummers and I've learned a lot by listening. T |

I used to run into Danny every now and then when he would visit a mutual teacher (Bob Tilles at DePaul U) and he'd do an impromptu seminar/clinic for the percussion students. Very willing to share and a nice guy. Now that's been a lot of years ago but I've got to tell you that guy has "it". Plays great and has the passion. I'm looking forward to hearing his new release.

DANNY SERAPHINE (founding drummer of "Chicago", now founding drummer of "California Transit Authority"
sent out word today via CTA's email newsletter that the single "SEVERAL THOUSAND" has been released to radio in a few select markets. I dug up contact information for TWO stations in my area and sent them to CTA via the reply-to in the newsletter. If you wanna hear this band throw down HARD, grab the record from iTunes. Marc Bonilla on guitar and LARRY BRAGGS on vocals? What's not to like!? |

I love Danny, when my friend turned me onto Chicago back in high school, I loved his rhythm... especially the early Chicago stuff.
He has a really cool swinging groove. I wish he was still part of the band today but Tris is a decent replacement. |

I read a press release right after "Full Circle" was shipped to iTunes that noted Danny had taken a few lessons recently from Joe Porcaro. I thought to myself, "if ya wanna refresh your jazz chops....Jeff's dad would be THE cat!"
Danny dedicated the solo in "Antonio's Love Jungle" to three other drummers: 1. Papa Jo Jones 2. Papa Joe Porcaro 3. Purdie You gotta check him out. Danny is taking no prisoners on this album. I think he's better now than he's ever been. |

Was anybody at the Chicago Drum Show to see any of Danny's clinics?
