Default Jojo Mayer's custom pedals?!

http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/jojomayerdp1.html

So i was checking out Jojo's performance and realize his pedal is not like anything I've seen before. Digging some of the post a fellow forum member suggest it's a custom.

This then got me interested in doing a little research on my own in venturing the idea of custom bass drum pedal.

From the video, the member (forgot who sorry) suggest that it's the right side of a DW 5002 lefty pedal with an eliminator footboard with what I presume to be a strap over the drive.

This basically just open up an entire topic of custom made pedal boards?

Just exactly how do-able is to swap different parts for different drum pedals?
Checking out Jojo's pedal board makes me very very interested as it seems like it has a long pedal board with a smooth action of strap without the support on the right that betters the slide foot technique that he does...

what are some of your insights and perhaps your possible experience in this?

I havent seen the video, because I cant access it here at work.

Jojo often uses a very old, pedal - A camco, by memory.

He did tell me once what it was, and in fact Ive had the very pedal in my hand at one point, when I was putting his kit together for a clinic.

My advice is not to get caught up with the tools of the trade too much. The bottom line is Jojo has flawless technique on his feet aswell as his hands, and THATS the reason he plays as well as he does.

From experience, customizing pedals could give you a lot more hassle than its often worth!

yeah thanks man.

Nah I know it's definitely technique over equipment. It just fascinates me whether or not if there are other fellow members that customize their pedals like Jojo does.
