Lovely snare collection chap. I positively dig that Thick Flame Maple. I'm looking for another BP snare and I think just by looks alone I know which one I want to get!

Very nice! I had one of those Brass Patinas, it's an excellent (and unique) snare.

These are real ear-and eye-catchers.
Especially those Mapex/Black Panther snare drums sound stunningly good.

I had the opportunity to use one in studio once. It felt awesome and turned out to sound very warm and fat.

I`d really love such a Phosphor Bronze as a side snare drum. Very much crack, high-pitched. Do you think that this one has enough power since it is a 10"?

Great collection!

Karl

Thanks Karl. To answer your question, I think it has plenty of power for its role. It has an awesome timbale sound with the snares off as well.

Here is my description from my original post:

Roger that. I liked your review and the sound file from it's time with the Unix set. Good stuff.

Thanks for the comment. The Thick Flame is awesome. It was a special edition in 08 and is available in a different finish (same shell) for 09. Like this:
