Reminds me in it's way of some of Bill Bruford's roto tom setups. He never had the roto tom bass drum. Wow, this is taken to a new extreme.

Not a particularly new one, if I can be bothered to buy some heads I can put my one back together and post a picture - it was originally my dad's kit, and he's had it since the early 80s...

(oh, and yes - complete with 18" roto through a cymbal stand for the bass drum. Works quite well!)

I actually heard one of those. A local band had one, and it sounded pretty cool for being all roto's.

This picture will tell the whole story!I had design a simple yet stable Metal Bass Base for the 18"Roto Tom Bass. Please use Single-ply drum head for Toms, and Remo Pinstripe or Black -Dot for the 18"Bass!It sound better! When I use this Roto-Drumsets.Those older drummer like it very much,it seems like bringing back their "Sweet"Memories!May be you can show this photo to your Dad!

I love the finish on that kit. :P
Other than that, I dig the unique-ness of the kit, but I wonder how that roto-bass sounds. Got any soundclips?

That is nice! I've recently decided I need to try some Roto-Toms in my setup.

You should try and track down a roto-snare, basically, a snare that is tuned in the same way as a roto tom.

They are very rare, though, i did recently se eone on ebay.

Hi,Recently got the idea of reduce the size of my old Roto-Kits to more compact-roto-kits.I use this Roto-kits more often now!I convert the 12"Roto as "Snare"(there's a home-made snare-wire attached on it!)8" as tom,the 14" as floor.I try reduce carry too many stands for gigs. So,I use 2 Yamaha clmap screwed it to a metal-plate,then attached it on the 18"Roto's kick stand. That's mean I only need to carry 2 stands(Hi-hat & Snare only).

Mike Mangini had one on the 96-97 Steve Vai Fire Garden tour. He beat the hell out of those drums.

Cool looking kit.

Very cool, unusual sets and a real treat to see. Thanks for sharing.

I recall wonder1 creates some great mini-kits and cocktail kits. He should really go into business.

Rob "Wacko" Hunter's kit employed Roto-toms for his toms, back in the 80s.

Have you seen him ever hit that cymbal in the past three years? That cymbal is the equivalent of Ashley Simpson lip syncing.

And who wouldn't remember Terry Bozzio?? Very nice quasi-obscure but on the nose reference.

Very cool, thanks for sharing.

Highly unusual fabric or whatever draped over the drums like a curtain - I have never seen anything like that!
