The snare retails for $470. A buddy ordered it for me for $275 with a padded carry bag.

Are they still available in the US? I remember they were catching on then it seemed as if they disappeared.

Unfortunately, no. They had roughly a 4 year run at US '5 Star Drum Shops'. RMV pulled out
and continued to focus on South America and parts of Europe (which they've done since '76).

I get to South America about once a year. I will have to find some time and check them out.

Excellent. Check out ODERY drums while you're at it. Beautifully made and
they sound excellent as well.

I wonder if I can squeeze a snare in my carry on?

Found a couple of other pics...

Plus I added another AHEAD 'Black On Brass' Snare; this time the 6 x 14 with the Dunnett throw off, as pictured below.
(And below that is the 6.5 x 14 with the TRICK throw-off.)

Thanks...

The gong bass was a recent addition. Couldn't believe I was lucky enough
to track down the same shell stype/color/and hardware color.

Sounds amazing. I sincerely hope RMV gives the US market another go
soon - I'll gladly purchase another kit for gigging.
