Default My Gretsch Catalina club mini mods

Just got 'em.. wasn't planning on getting another kit. A friend of mine works in a local music shop drum dept.... The kick drum has a tiny nick in it..so I got these drums for a steal!! They sound freaking AWESOME!!!

Very, very cool.

It is hard to pass up great priced gear. Even if you don't need it, if priced right, you will buy it.

No sound clips yet. I can tell you they are thunderous. The 20x20" kick is a monster. The whole kit sounds incredible! At first, I wasn't real crazy about the color (s)..but now that I have had a chance to mess with 'em..it's pretty cool. Thanks for the comments!

Beatiful kit=) Love your setup 2. But you want a few tips? Change the floor tom feet! Buy som real rubber feets instead of those plastic things and you will notice a huge different in sound! Also Gretsch put Evans g1's one top so that it really looks classy, but the reso heads are like glad pack!

You mean like these??? I'm a step ahead of ya there! For my playing style, the G1s don't cut it. True about the resos! Glad bag material they are for sure. The EC2 coated heads are great on these shells! I'll be swapping the resonants to EC resonants.
The only other upgrades I'll be doing, is swapping out the wimpy 1.6mm rims for 2.5s
other than that this kit is a POWERHOUSE!!!

(sorry about the floor..darn cat!)

Really like the kit, nice K's as well. Do you think the special floor tom feet thing does much?

Tom

Sorry to uproot an old thread... but now you've had them for a few more months - any more impressions? Do you still like them? Do they make a decent compact gigging kit?

Anyone else out there have/played this set and can provide some feedback?

Thanks

Tom
