Default Emporer X/Clear Ambassador

Anyone have any experience playing a snare with an Emporer X on batter, and regular Clear Ambassador on reso side?

You mean a plain ambassador or "snare side" ambassador ?

I have used the Emperor X with a snare side ambassador.. It's a great combo. A regular clear ambassador or any batter head for that matter would sound good on the snare bottom. I've tried it. It's very muffled and unresponsive, not much volume.

Thanks for the reply. To answer your question about the plain ambassador, yes thats what I meant by "regular".

ahhhhh!!! I mean "would NOT sound good on the bottom" You can try but from what I have found, a snare side head is the only head for the bottom.

Does this question sound somewhat familiar?

Personally I have tried the emperor x and I don't like it on snares, way too muffled, not very open at all.

The Emperor X is a very thick head and, in my opinion, is the equivalentof a 3 ply head. It should have maximum durablility with the tradeoff being the tone.

I like it. It's a damn good head for rock or metal.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I should have worded my post better...I've used the Emperor X previously, but I was curious about the specific combination of the two heads...the Emp. X and Clear Ambassador together.
