Default Help me please recording/posting videos to YouTube

Hey gang I am trying to record drum covers to make youtube videos. I am having a problem figuring it out. I was recording with a camera, i used my ipod put a splitter on it with the head phones on my ears so I could hear the music and then an external speaker out the other so the camera would pick up the song and me playing....there has to be an easier way......Helppppp Thanks

Play along to the iPod, shoot the video, capture it to your video editor, add the original song into the video mix, synchronise accordingly, edit, export and upload.

Exactly.

1. Play along to your iPod while recording the video.

2. Once the video is imported to your computer, import the original song you covered.

3. Synchronize your drumming and the song's audio so that they match. This is pretty hard, but you can use the audio waveforms to do it (or not).

4. Play around with the audio levels of the song.

Laut77, the way you re doing is probably the "easiest" way. Thats how I ve been doing it and I m a computer retard. Dur de dur-dur, lol. But its worked for me....I found that placing a speaker close to the mic on the camera helps. If you want to get into synching and all that stuff then go for it, but I ve done the same way you mentioned and it always worked for me... Whats the problem you re having? Is it not working?

Syncing isn't that hard. You just drag the song clip and video/audio clips together until they match up.

That video, besides the drumming needing a bit of work (I know, you're learning), was great. The reason your hi-hats sound bad is because you're drumset isn't mic'd, and you don't have a super-nice camera. You could have the best drumset in the world, and it would still sound bad on a band camera.
