Default dw colletors snare

i have 14x6 and need advise on heads, does anyone have this snare and what head do you use? i bought this snare used and it had a evans genera and a hazy 200. sounded pretty good but it needed a new batter, so i thought i'd try a coated emperor but wow what a ring, i've tried tuning it everyway i can think of, it's not happenning for me.so what i'm looking for is a nice warm sound with a small amount of ring, any suggestions welcomed.

I have the 14x7 (see pic).

I have tried the PS3, G2 coated, EC2 coated, Power Center rev. dot,

The most controlled and punchy tone came from the PS3. I like that fat punch it produced but not sure how much you like your snare drum to ring. I recorded with the EC2 coated and it was great. I have a G2 coated on it now and it rocks.

The Genera is a 10mil single ply head so it is probably ringing your ear off.

If it were my 14x6 Collectors Series I would try the EC2 coated Rev. Dot. and go from there.

Finding that just right tone from our precious snare drums is elusive at times and frustrating. But, once you get it you are in snare drum nirvana.

The Genera head is actually the Evans version of a Powerstroke 3, if you like muffled try the Evans Genera HD, it's basically a Emperor with a muffling ring. I personally don't like muffling and go with the single ply heads (Ambassador/G1) and use moongel on it when necessary.
