Default Daniel Adair

Now I know not alot of you are Nickelback fans, but when i went to their concert, this guy blew me away. He is one of the better modern day hard rock drummers and possibly one of the greatest hard rock drummers of all time. His solo was......... i was speechless after i saw it. Check his stuff out even if you don't like Nickelback.

I saw him live back with 3door Down. I was sceptical at first, given the really dull variety of drumming in that type of music, but he laid down a really solid solo, showing off some serious chops.

I would say he's one of the better alt-rock drummers on the scene.

Well, I can't stand nickelback OR 3 doors down but Dan Adair is a pretty smokin' drummer. Shows that the drummer doesnt actually make the band (heh)
Nice guy also.

Saw Nickelback last week in Atlanta. Adiar was fantastic. He doesn't have a huge kit. Just a 5 piece with a couple of crashes and a china. He's not real flashy. But man he lays down a groove as well as sings backing vocals. A great all around drummer.

his playing on nickelback's latest album is brilliant, but you should listen to his drumming from when he was with dave martone. thats daniel adair at his best, literally perfect.

i really like this guy's drumming. i think nickelback is doing alot better with him on the band. he uses double pedal which is very rare in a rock band. His songs are not very difficult but they're alot of fun to play along to.

I never really cared for Nickelback until I saw them recently. They blew me away, and
Daniel Adair was smokin'! I agree with averypoordrummer about the new album...his
drumming is brilliant.

The drummer who's with Three Doors Down now is Greg Upchurch, who used to be
with Puddle of Mudd.

With any luck, Daniel Adair should be to hard rock as Travis Barker is to punk: a mainstream drummer bringing interesting drumming and solid chops to the masses.

I think Adair is awesome, saw him with Nickelback a month ago. He was fantastic. Probably one of the best modern hard rock drummers.

As for the 3 Doors Down vs Nickelback debate, I love them both. They're both great bands. I actually like 3 Doors Down just a little more, but just slightly, and part of me wishes Daniel stayed with them, but I see why he switched.

3DD is an American band while Nickelback is Canadian. Daniel Adair is also Canadian, so its probably more comfortable for him to rock out with his fellow Canadians. Maybe deep down inside hes not a big fan of Southern Rock and wanted something slightly "heavier". Maybe we should try and get him to sign up for this fourm to settle this dispute lol

I read somewhere that Adair is putting together a rock/fusion group. If you go to the pearl website and check his profile there is a video of him playing with one.

The first video? Martone? Thats a band he plays in when he's at home, dont know how long they've been around, but something tells me that band actually has two drummers, ya know with Daniel being on tour with that one band all, but who am I to know? Anyways, that Martone stuff is pretty cool...

Here's their, or maybe "his" (Dave Martone) MySpace page

http://www.myspace.com/davemartone

Oh, and since this is about Daniel Adair...

http://www.myspace.com/danieladair1

Now slightly off track but relates to 3 Doors Down. I could probably find this out with some research, but I'm lazy haha... I know its Daniel Adair on Seventeen Days and Brad Arnold (the lead singer) plays drums on The Better Life, but is it still Arnold on Away From The Sun or just another studio drummer?

That was none other than the man who is always drumming for some record, Mr. Josh Freese.

ive just recently been listening to some of daniel adairs stuff and it's extremely solid, his showmanship as well ... hes obviously no thomas lang but then again thomas lang isnt human. He backs the band very well and does have some serious chops.

Nickelback and Chad Kroeger are insufferable, but Daniel Adair is a wicked drummer...the Martone album A Demon's Dream is really good.

Adair is in my top drummers (and he is pictured in the photo, 2nd from the right, at the top of the forum, so he's literally at the top)- while he may not be Neil Peart while playing with Nickelback, he is playing the best that anyone could possibly play in that style of music, and is sort of the Neil Peart of the genre. HIs stuff with Martone and his solos are incredible though.
And Martone only has Daniel as drummer (except occasional guest track appearences while D's out touring)- Dave usually does acoustic work on the side, but they play together at concerts (and Martone partially toured with Nickelback last year).

He sticks to what he is good at in the sense of drumming and his solos are wicked. He does not overplay in Nickelback and I prefer his drumming over Ryan Vikedal's anyday. Also Mike's bass playing has sounded better and the rhythm section has a sense of direction because of Daniel. That is how you can tell a good drummer. Before Daniel joined the rhythm section was all over the place, not anymore. Anyways, his style is great and he is hands down the best drummer in the post-grunge field of music.

I have checked out the videos and was surprised as well. He really does not show skills alot in Nickelback. Plus I love his set-up, Sabian cymbals rule!

Sure he shows his skills...by playing exactly what the music needs, which is, imo, the main criteria for a good drummer.

Who knows. I think he's pretty happy with Nickelback, but wouldn't you jump on the chance to do something better?

I think he'll stick with them for a while, because while his stuff with Martone is more complex, Nickelback brings him the $, and he seems to fit well with the music and the band members themselves. I can't really see him playing for any similar style band as NB and playing the same way he does now- how many other bands like NB (3DD comes to mind immediatley) are going to let him play intros like to Animals and Follow You Home.

He is my #1 insperation today. His just amazing. His playing style is more suited to Nickelback even he said so himself. He was great with 3 Doors Down Though.

Guys bag him out because he does the same drum solo all the time. Well they know nothing about drums. A solo should be based on something and stick to that and just change it up everynow and then. Then you know what your doing. Instead of trying to pull things out of your ass that you dont know.

Mind you most of the people that bag him out are just weekend warrior drummers.

Knock yourselfs out :)

Time to bump this!

Daniel has a new site up (http://www.daniel-adair.com). He's got links to a few videos, and he's in the process of getting pics up. He's also changed from Pearl to DW (drums and hardware). Got a couple of pics of his new kit for you too:
