Default timbales

I am thinking of adding a set of timbales to my set for the few latin songs we do but I have no idea what make is considered good and reliable. I do not want to invest a lot of cash but I do want a good product to go with my classic Rogers,. Any thoughts?

Cheap timbales sound just like cheap drums. Even low end decent sounding timbales are gonna run you somewhere between $250 and $300. Look for used sets of brass or steel shells. If you only need them for one or two tunes, my guess is that what you are really looking for is an effect snare like a piccolo or the Quinones snarebale or whatever its called.
