Default problems w/ Gibraltar Dunnett R-class swivel throwoff

I just bought a gibraltar dunnett universal throw-off for my 6.5x14 tama artwood maple snare, when trying to mount it to the drum I found that the screws seem to be way too long and the nuts on the end don't tighten down very much so it doesn't really hold it on too well. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I am doing wrong.

Take your throw off to a local hardware store and find some shorter bolts. It should be a pretty common thread pitch. Another option would be to place a few washers under the bolts on the inside of the shell.

Blue steel 357 huh? Cool blaster.
