Default Best Remo Heads For No Mic's?

I am doing a lot of gigs where the drums are not mic'ed up and I am finding my current heads are not suitable for this use as they do not cut through well enough.

I am currently using the Remo Clear Emperor top/ Clear Ambassador bottom combo and they produce a lovely sound but they just don't cut through without mic's.

Would coated heads be better for cutting through without mics?

I would think that Ambassadors would work better than the Emperors, being that they would produce a more open, bright tone to them to cut through more effectively.
I would buy coated simply cause I like the sound better, but I'm not entirely sure with how it would effect the cut of them in un-miced gigs.

Coated Ambassadors tuned mid to high over clear ambassadors.
If you prefer Evans the G1's can be substituted.

You could also use Remo clear with black dots too. They will project better plus you have some added strength from the black dot.

Clear Remo Ambassadors, or if you need a more durable head, clear Emperors.

He's already using Emperors.
