Default audix i5, d2, d4, d6, audio-technica 3035

i finally got the money and an amazing deal on these.
i already have one i5.
i had a samson mic pack and with yalls advise am now upgrading to this...

audix dp 5a mic pack
i5 / i5 (maybe the other d2) snare
d2 rack
d4 floor
d6 kick
and
2 audio-technica 3035 overhead mics

im getting them for around $600. dont ask me how.....

i enjoy exploiting his work status.

does anyone know a good mic for around $150 specifically for hihats?

I still like the SM-57 for hats. Yes, even more than the heralded i5. Try yours out and see what you think.

really? dynamic on the hihats? i thought that was a no no...
ive been looking at this one.
seems like it would match well with the at3035s...

If you're playing live, go for dynamics all the way around...more durable (for when those pesky "other" people knock 'em over).

For a studio small-diaphragm condenser, check out the Oktava MK 012. It works pretty well for hats or as an under-snare mic.

With all due respect, I wouldn't use dynamics for overheads live. Even though you make a valid point about durability, the transient response of dynamics microphones really just isn't good enough for cymbals. You risk losing definition and clarity - and you'll probably end up with a mid-heavy mix.
