Default Which bass drum beater?

Hey drummerworld

Im looking for a new pair of bass drum beaters for my double pedal. I currently have a pair of danmar redwood beaters but i dont really want to use them all the time on my roland Vdrums as the wood seems to wear the rubber quickly. could anyone recommend a nice pair of felt beaters please? i have had a look at the tama iron cobra felt beaters, are these any good? has anyone had good experiences with them?

PS i like fairly heavy beaters

Many thanks in advance!

I have used DW5000 beaters with a felt side on them and they seem pretty heavy. You can also buy weights to put on the shaft.

Keep in mind a heavier beater will make a drummer louder, but not many people think that's a good thing.

Danmar felts are great. They are the same weight/diameter as the redwoods.
Love em'
Cheers,

the tama cb90's and cb90'r 's are fantastic in my opinion.
they are the iron cobra beaters for those who are unaware. they seem to be fairly lightweight, but they come with beater weights,so that should fix that problem.

They are extremely good for metal. They give you really tight powerful sound. Wouldn't call them versatile though, you love them or hate them.

I got rid of the sonic hammers that come with the "A" series Axis pedals cause I thought they were too heavy. Never weighed them next to a danmar wood beater, but it might be worth a look.

Big Foot Tri-Beaters are incredibly nice, quite weighted, and the option of felt, rounded rubber, or flat rubber.
Advice for wooden beaters though would be those stick on dampner things for bass head, or even just duck tape. It seems to stop alot of wearing of the head.

I got the iron cobra felt beaters and i absoloutely love them. They are actually quite weighty and pack a nice punch. The felt feels great and gives a nice rebound aswell.
