Default My 8pc baby :)

Hey guys!

Just wanted to drop by and show you guys my kit as it is today.

My drums are Maxtone something, I don't really know much about them. The reason I own that piece of junk set is that i got it for only about 70 bucks from a non drumming friend of mine. I thought this was a great deal for a big kit to practice on. But then when i got some new drumheads and tuned it. It sounded really great, so i started using it as my main kit, and i have been using it for a year now. Since I bought it, I've repainted it (as in removed the blue wrap and painting it black) and replaced the coated Ambassadors with Clear Evans G2 putting the coated ones on the bottom. And now i've probably spent about 3000 dollars in total on it (including cymbals and hardware) and I f***ing LOVE this kit. It's awesome. Sounds reeeally great. A LOT better than you'd expect :)

Specs:

Kit:

Rack: 8x8" 10x8" 12x8"
Floor:13x9" 16x16"
Bass: 2x 22x16"
Snare: 2x 14x4"

Cymbals:

16" Paiste Alpha China
14" Sabian AAX Fast Hats
8" Meinl Classics Low Bell
18" Zildjian A Custom Medium Crash
10" Meinl SoundCaster Custom splash
6,5" Custom made bell from a Sabian Virgil Donati signature
19" Zildjian Z Custom Thrash ride (crash/ride)
20" Meinl Classics medium ride
20" Meinl Amun China

Hardware:

Curved Gibraltar Dbl bass rack
Yamaha, gibraltar and maxtone stands.
Pearl P122TW pedals
Yamaha Throne

Future Plans:

More small cymbals (splashes, bells, sound effects, etc.)
More cymbals of all kinds.
New pedals
Side additions to the rack
More Clamps for the rack
New finish on the drums,
Black Hardware
remote hihat stand
boom stands for everything
Triggers and module
can't remember anything else at the moment.

Pictures:

By the way. I don't use those AHEAD drumsticks. They were used only because I am currently out of sticks.

I'm glad you added that last comment haha.

Nice looking set, the curved rack looks awesome. Is that an 18" floor I see in the background?

No, it's a 16 inch from another drumset :)
I use it as a table for drumkeys, sticks and other stuff ;)

Thanks man :)

Actually, the snare is one of the things I love the most about the kit. I am really happy on how it turned out after some new heads and decent tuning :)

Did you swap out the lugs? If so, what are they now?

you did an awesome job on that, you should be proud. Just goes to show you don't need to drop you're life savings to get a good sounding kit. Good job!
