Default New Band

So some guy asked me to be in his band. Only thing is he's 23 and i'm 17. What do you guys think? Am I being silly worrying about the age gap or should I maybe hold out and see if I get any other offers by people more my age?

I think you're too young to get married, what would the neighbours think!

If you were like 17 and he was like 67 then I still can't see why you would not like to make music with him ;o) As long as you get on together the HUGE age difference will make no difference. The bassist I jam with is over 50 and I'm only a young 43 and we get along...although I do have to help him with his zimmer frame.

Go forth and make music!!!!!

I'm not sure 6 years can be considered a significant age gap. Is he a nice bloke and a good musician? If so then do it.

age gaps really don't matter, it just matters that you get along. One issue to watch is sometimes if everyone else is over 21 they'll be into heavy drinking and such, and at 17 you can't do that legally, at least. But if they seem easy enough to get along with, its fine.

One of my band's right now has quite a varied group- m percussionist is in his early-mid 30's, the guitarist is near 60, one of the vocalists is mid-40's, and so on. Its all about who gets along, the age disappears after a while.
