Default drum triggers

Ok, I was looking at drum triggers, and I was really thinking about getting them. Because my band is recording and as of what I saw they make every stroke even and sound the same. But I don't want to get them because then people probably say "omg!! look at his speed!" and another one would be like "yeah, he uses triggers though" and then "oh..."

I don't want people to think less of my drumming, or less of me as a drummer, but I dont want it to sound like crap.
And, are they really "cheating"?

Drum triggers are really good to be using during recording but it doesn't change the speed or nothing, just the sound. So don't worry about them and no they do not cheat using triggers
