Default Where should my Falam Slam be placed?

Where is the best place to strike your bass drum? I would assume right in the center would give you the most focused thud and off center will be a more open sound? I'm putting a new Remo Powerstroke 3 on my DW Collectors Maple 22x18 bass drum and am trying to figure out the best place to place the falam slam patch. I play all styles, mostly rock and jazz. Any advice would help! Thanks!

Each case is different. You need to experiement with where it sounds best. You can tape it onto your BD head to get an idea, move it around.

Usually drummers have their beater height set and so its already determined where patch will go.
