Default My new Yamaha and Zidjian kit

Hey everyone,

So I decided to drop the DP and go for the Stage Custom.

Drums: Yamaha Stage Custom in Cranberry Red
10x8
12x9
16x16
22x17
14x5.5
All drums have Evans EC2's on them except for the Bass which has Evans EMAD.

Cymbals:
Zildjian K hats 14" (These hats were played by Rick Latham at his drum clinic in october)
Zildjian A Custom 16" Crash
Zildjian A Custom 18" Crash
Sabian AA Rock 20" Ride (soon to be traded in for K ride)
Zildjian Avedis Quick-Beat Hats 14" (Don't use them anymore of course)
Wuhan China 14"

I got a wicked deal on the K Hats. Originally they were $350 but because Rick Latham used them, they went down to $230 and when I return the Quick Beats, that'll be another $100 off the price, so in total, I paid $130 for a pair of K Hats once used by Rick Latham. Sweetness!

EDIT: here's the pics, more to come.

That makes me feel so good-
I bought a 5 pc set of Yamaha Stage Custom Nouveaus (used-$800 CAD) just before Xmas, and today I saw 2 PDP kits going for about the same price... I was doing some internal soul searching, thinking maybe I acted too hastily, but I feel better now, hearing about your choice. I'm going to be playing my sweet Yammies (matte black Oak finish) tomorrow for our New Years gig, and I just can't wait! Just put a Evans EMAD bass head and Aquarian P2 power dots on the toms-great way to ring in the new year I think;)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the tom heads you have on your kit EMADS as well? My store didnt have them in stock, unfortunately:(

I believe the EMAD refers to the plastic ring around the edge of the (bass) drum head. It holds the foam in place. Very nice heads.

To-Triptech--> Nice set man! Looks really comfy and fun to play! Have fun!! : ]]]

Thanks! At first I found to be really dead, but I grew to like them and now I won't use anything but EC2's haha.

Thanks, and I am selling my quick-beats! Not New beats, the quick beats are different in that the bottom hat has no bell and has 4 holes in it, still nice hats though. And I love the 16", it goes well with everything and for $60, that's a steal. I bought mine for 170.

No way man, you made the right decision! PDP's are nothing compared to the Stage Customs. Have fun on your new, and kickass kit.

So, great choice with all the stuff...oh yeah, that looks absolutly awesome! Also, the Stage Custom Nouveau sounds brilliant.

Thanks for the replies and nice comments. Haha Rick can lay down a mean groove and he can hit pretty damn hard, and after him only playing them for 2 hours, you wouldn't believe the wear on them. That man can play!

Very nice kit, rendezvous. That finish looks beautiful. Get us a better picture so that we can fully appreciate its beauty. Yamaha creates such fine finishes. Great deal on the hats ....

The quickbeats compared to the K's is like Ford compared to Porsche. I really hate the quickbeats now haha. Anyone want them for a cheap price??

Lovely kit. A nice, straight forward drumset. The cymbal selection is dead on and with the addition of the K ride, it will only get better.

Cheers D.C. Drummer,

I'm actually thinking of a Saluda 22" Mist X Heavy Power Ride for this kit and then a 22" Zildjian K Custom Dark afterwards. Thanks fer the compliments.

Your cymbal setup reminds me of Matt Cameron's kit.
Get another floor tom, and you'll be set :)
