Default Coated Resonant Heads

Does anyone have any experience with using a coated drum head as your resonant on a tom? Im looking for a warm, focused, sound with moderate sustain and moderate attack for my 10, 12 and 14 toms on a dw set. Im thinking a coated G1 as a resonant will focus and add warmth to the sound, used with a coated EC1 on top. Any experience or suggestions?

My teacher has 2 kits with I believe coated ambassadors on both sides of his camco kit
1 is a vintage ludwig with emerors on top ambassadors on bottom and it sounds good but easily can sound kind of dull without a real good tuning.

so I believe your answer would be yes its possible to have coated on bottom and top and still get a good sound.

As far as something like clears on top and coated on bottom, Im not sure how that would come out... :-\

I tried putting coated ambassadors on the top and bottom of my '70 Ludwig kit. It sounded a bit too muffled, so I switched to clears on the bottom. Sounds great now.

This is going to sound weird, but my old high school band teacher had coated g2's on top AND bottom. He has them tuned to the same pitch and they actually sounded incredible inside a gymnasium. idk about gigging with that combo,

I would suggest a coated batter and a singly ply clear reso, the coated head will give you the warmth you want.
