Default Drum lights

Hi guys!

I am currently in the process of building a set of lights for the drumkit. Basicly there will be a light wich will go on each drum kit. As the drum is hit the light comes on.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how i can actually pick up the sound , i was thinnking peizo electrics etc etc . If you know of something similar or you know of a friend who has done or is doing a similar thing coulyou let me know??

Any help in general would be very welcome.

Thanks in advance for your time!

It's pretty simplistic, but you might look into those valve-stem blinking tire-fly lights you see plasterred all over ebay - they're illegal in many states I think, on a moving car at least... but they work great it other applications (I've got some on my RC cars... :-) Motion/vibration fires 'em up, and they shut off automatically after a few seconds of inactivity. Some have light sensors in 'em though (won't work in daylight) so you'll wanna watch for that.

I've got LED christmas lights snaked around my set.... Something a little different. This shot has our chasers, stage-rope lights, and fog in the mix, made for a cool pic, I thought...
