Default DIY electric drums

i'm building a replica of my kit, but i dont have s too much money to spend on electric drums, i was wondering if i could make a rack out of pvc pipes, get a bunch of practice pads and make my own trigger to them with piezo transducers. so my questions are

1. what is better a trigger with a piezo transducer or a ddrum acoustic trigger??
2. if i was to use ddrum trigger can i use a tom/snare trigger on my bass drum??
3. have you or know anyone that have made a rack out of pvc pipes??

If you decide on PVC be sure to buy Schedule 40 and not the average Schedule 20. Its much heavier and sronger.
