Yea the jukebox is my dads. I play along with it at partys sometimes. Nobody else in my family is musical so they all think im like the best in the world when im playing simple songs such as Gimme Some Lovin (Sencer Davis Goup) or Fortunate Son (Creedence Clearwater Revival).

Yes i love the 16in tom. Im a sucker for deep low tones. Thats probably why i didnt get the 8in tom as my parents requested...i just wouldnt use it.
I rarely use the 10in, its basically auxillary i guess...Kinda like moon in You better you bet.

that's a heck of a christmas present.

When I bought my 16" pacific LX floor tom, it was like 400 bucks. No wonder your parents wanted to get you the 8" add on instead. haha.

2 up 2 down for the win!

Nice Kit. It's a real beauty! But i think you need to do a little cymbals shopping. If you're on a budget, cheak out the sabian xs20's. Wuhan 12 inch chinas are cool. They're cheap, but they're the trashiest cymbals around. And for 12$? Why not try them out?

Well the cymbals, I'm savin up and getting real nice ones...Zildjian K's and A customs, along those lines. But I will still get those wuhan chinas, especially at the price!

Tomarrow im going to Sam Ash for snare head shopping, here is what I'm looking at so far...

Remo Emperor X Drum Head
Coated Power Center Snare Drum Head
Hi Energy Snare Drum Head

Feedback would be greatly appreciated as well as any other options. I would like to have two or three options just if one is not in stock or such.
Thanks.

Man I spent like an hour today trying to get my kit set like this, minus the 12" tom. I am in the midst of trying to turn my kit into maybe a 4 piece and using a single pedal. But I like they way you have this set up. You planning on getting the 8" tom anytime?

I love the setup! I have mine that way also. But I may change it. The only difference is I have it 8" and 10" up and 12" and 14" down. I think I may put it back as three up one down.

looks good.

My only advice is a cymbal upgrade, and straight out your toms. I had my toms like yours until i tried them at a higher angle and reallly liked it.

One year...I didnt really think i was going to progress as fast as I did so I didnt buy crazy good cymbals at the time. *Smacks forehead*

Yea new cymbals is definitally what my parents dont want me to spend my money on. Darn car insurance.
I'm thinking some used cymbals that will save me half the money could do me well.

As for the toms, they were changed after some breaking down for band practices. I guess they just magically moved into a nice spot. Those pics were from a definite while ago and nothing really major has happend to my kit besides a new snare head so im not going to waste mine and your guys' time with that.

And I feel much more comfortable with the low toms because it just feels like im in more control.

Thanks!

I had mine for about a year and 1 day i noticed a small crack on my 16" crash. So i sanded it down to keep the crack from getting any larger. I was confident that it would hold but then 3 days later i looked at the place were i sanded it and i noticed that the crack was getting bigger. THEN my 18" starts doing that too. So now on my 16" the its sanded and about 2" into the cymbal and its starting to crack on the opposite side of the cymbal. My 18" is doing the same. When i bought them I was thinking that these cymbals were a good investment. I am still proud to have a cheap bottom line cymbal. My cymbals could pass a top line cymbal. I do love them and i will probably buy another set of zbt rock crashes.

Heya, sweet kit. Wish I had one... oh wait, i do :P

check out cracked high end cymbals. I bought my 18" full crash for $60, drilled the 1 inch crack out, and it sounds great, you can't even tell. and if you do it right the crack won't move, at least not for a long time. but in any case you can't beat 1/5 of the cost of new.

How do you like your pearl pedals? I almost got some not long ago.

Also, to make your snare sound much much better, replace your resonant head. the stock pdp one is really bad, though it's hard to tell until you switch.

Wow thats one major bump!!

I have major updates on this kit as of christmas. I'll take some pics later.
I got new heads all around and my kit is sounding better than ever. And I'm alright with the pearl pedals. Not the best response and feel but its not terrible by any means. I bought them just a little less than a year ago and now i'm thinking about getting rid of them. I'm just not a double bass player so i want to get something that will make my right foot very happy.

thanks!

Hey nice kit i really like the colour! And i know how you feel about wanting new cymbals, i have a Solar ride that sounds average but not very good and i've been itching to upgrade as soon as i save up enough money. I recently replaced the solar hats and crash to higher end Sabians, couldnt be happier.

Hey vedox, could you explain how you drilled out the crack?? I might try it

It was a thing I did in my high school's metal shop. It's kind of a big drill press looking thing, but you clamp the cymbal in to a table below it, and the table moves by cranking levers like an etch-a-sketch. So you drop the bit down into the cymbal and move the cymbal to draw it through. If you can find the equipment, and if the crack is in a decent spot (not the base of the bell or the edge) then I think it's a great way to go.

Does anyone know where to find a cheapish 16" floor tom add on? I bought my MX kit in 04 with the deep red finish and I don't even think they make the floor tom in that color anymore. Plus, I've noticed that a MX kit going today is about a grand and I payed 650 for it back in 04. Anyone know why there's such a discrepancy?
