Default My Unix custom snare

The credit for this beauty goes to my wonderful girlfriend, and of course Frank. It started out with me casually mentioning this drum builder on the forum and how one day I'd like a drum with... (enter specifics here). Short story, she contacted Frank on her own and initiated the build down the last detail as a surprise.

Both my name and nickname are inlayed in the blue and charcoal fade. These pics really do not do it justice; this snare is the most beautiful and now best sounding I own. I'll leave the details for this maple creation to Frank if he wishes to chime in because I wasn't in on this til the very end. All I know is I can't stop playing it, or looking at it for that matter.

Believe me when I say that dealing with Frank was a great pleasure and it was well worth the wait. His patience while dealing with my gf (who isn't a drummer) was unparalleled and his product is top notch. GREAT JOB Unix and thanks again.

Wow! That's something else. Really cool that your girl had that made for you. Put some clips online of yourself playing it and make some pictures in the sunny outside.

I can just repeat myself over and over again. That is absoloutly stunning!!
I`m not sure whether I read it anywhere here but does more wood and more thickness increase the volume of the drum? Does it gets more ring and overtones?

A very good looking snare drum, she chose that well. :-)

Well, all the pleasure was mine, and that particular one was hard to shipped, I really dig the blue fade. Defenetly one of my favorite.

And your girlfriend was really kind and really patient in the process, they only thing that make me sad is that you didn't received it on time for your birthday.

This is probably my favorite Unix snare yet, I was kind of on the edge about buying a Unix snare, but it's decided, I am buying a Unix snare this summer, 146.7% guaranteed!

This drum just seems to have such a personal vibe attached to it, maybe it's just the blue, but it's fantastic!

6.5...... If I'm right, do I get free heads with my Unix snare?

Wow! Beautiful one-of-a-kind drum. Your girlfriend is awesome. Time to start saving up for a unix snare... maybe even just a 10-incher. These things are real beauties.

Karl
It is louder than my other wood snares and the overtone/ring is pretty significant, kinda close to a steel shell...I love it!

No worries, I forgot that when I received the post office slip in my mailbox! And the fade looks great, I will take some pics out in the sun to catch a better view

Incredible. The snare. The story. The joy. It looks fantastic and I'm sure the pride-in-ownership factor is off the charts. Your girlfriend and my wife are kindred spirits (check my signature for the story). Some call us lucky, but as for me, I deserve it ;-)

The grain coming through the blue hues is amazing! Like looking down into the Caribbean Sea where you can see the the sand bars through the azure blue waters...

....sorry, I'm getting carried away.... back to my Pearl chad smith..

Congratulations, F, on yet another masterpiece.

Wow, what a fantastic snare!

Having the finish on the inside too is pretty cool.

It'll probably never leave the stand!

Great job Unix, and happy snare-ing to ya T.!
