Default New kit!

YESS! Just got it today, Pearl Visions VSX.They're beautiful, I love them haha.

Specs:
Black Sparkle

22" x 18" bass
12" x 9" rack tom (not using)
13" x 10" rack tom
16" x 16" floor tom
5-1/2" x 14" snare (unsure about using haha)

another 5-1/2" x 14" 1960's Gretsch Snare which I'm using right now, but I'm gonna get the Pearl one all tuned up tomorrow and see if I like it better than the Gretsch or not.

Cymbals:
17" Meinl Classics Medium Crash
13" Pair of Meinl Classics Medium Soundwave Hats
18" Meinl Classics Medium Crash
18" Wuhan China
20" Zildjian ZBT Ride (shopping for a new one haha)

But yeah, better pictures will be up soon, these don't do the finish glory.

Nice set - where does it rank in the Pearl hierarchy?

Your cymbals are too low. You can get extensions to make them higher (just kidding!).

Yes, I would like to see better photos. Black sparkle is a very rare finish and I'd love to see it. Maybe photograph them in sunlight.

Thanks man! In the Pearl hierarchy its under the Masters but above the Forum and such.

Hahah I know, my cymbals are too high, thats what everyone says, but I am much more comfortable with them high and TrAvIs BaRkEr does it, so I should too (jussst kidding hah)

Yeah, my camera's actin' up so I had to take those with my webcamera on my laptop (thus the weird angles and no overhead shot) but I should have nice pictures up soon, and possibly some out in the back yard!

Yes, we demand better pictures. And a drum review. Don't worry about cymbal height. Cat named Tony Williams used to run his plates pretty high also. I don't think anyone ever told Tony it was wrong.

If you can play well with high crash cymbals...so much the better.
It's a bit of "showman" for the audience......carry on :-))

Haha, I must say, I do enjoy being a showman for the audience.

lol. you're probably joking right?

About the set, I don't like the sizes, but it looks good. One question, what type of music do you play? Because this strikes me as a rocker player's set but the Meinls seem like an unusual choice for a rock drummer.

That's true... and Tony's probably a great example of how it doesn't matter what the setup is as long it works for you. And man, did it work for Tony. Although he was Tony...

I think we'd all like to see that black sparkle a little more clearly. How do the drums sound? I think Pearl put a lot of work into making these sets a lot closer to professional-level than their other entry-level lines. Nice to see the classics, too. Are you thinking about getting a matching ride cymbal?

Thanks everyone! Yeah, the black sparkle is great, my friend came over and took some pictures and he'll probably email me them by the end of the day, so they should be up soon.

They sound great, the toms get so deep and thick, it's beautiful! And the kick is a monster, it was rattling my windows before I muffled it a bit.. Yeah I'm thinking about getting a matching Classics ride, but I'm also looking at others too..

I play punk and grunge. I dunno, I just loved the sound of the Classics, so I got 'em haha.
