Default WARNING ! Istanbul p0rn inside...(now with audio clip)

Score this babe on ebay for a BIN of 125$ cdn. So here's my new heavy but lovely baby.

I've bought a new stand too so I've fitted this ride as a left hand ride (Now I'll be able to practice the Gary Chester New Breed concept). At the very first listen, I symply felt in love with this ride, bright & cutting but in the same time charming & complex with good sticks definition and not much overtones.

Istanbul Mehmet 21" Custom Dry ride (Really heavy @ 3742 grams)

Among its new friends

Yes it's Vic Firth Stereo Isolation Head Phone that I bought as my kit for Chritmas along with my TAMA Rhythm Watch.

Agreed... I think there are lighter Z Customs in that size range! Is your scale broken? Well either way, if it sounds great, that's awesome.

I like the placement. Thought about doing that when i finally get my beautiful baby ride, what is it like to play that bit higher than your hi-hats?

Heavy indeed, but dry rides tend to tip the scales... my old Sabian 21" AA Dry Ride was a back breaker when moving it around.

Congrats, Mind Drummer! You'll have to share some sound bites when you get a chance!

Coincidentally I own that same cymbal, although it doesn't get any use nowadays. I've been meaning to sell it but I might just weigh before I do so. I wonder how it compares to mind-drummer's new pie.

Yes really heavy but strangely really nice. It may be because of the heavy hammering but it has that little something that make you come back for more.

No my scale isn't broken because what's nice with Mehmet (maybe Agop too), the weight is handwrote on the back of the bell.

I have lowered it since the picture but its about the same place (over the hat). You have to get use to it because the left hand doesn't see so much action to the left (except for the hat or aux. snare) when riding the ride or toms with your right.

Looking forward to hearing it mind_drummer. That's probably the heaviest Turkish hand hammerd 21 incher i've ever heard of. Bet the bell on that beauty at that weight can be heard in your neighbors house LOL!

That`s not just SOME nice bronze.
I could look at those Istanbul pies for centuries I think...

The great thing about those heavy Turkish hand hammered cymbals is that it still has the dark, smokey tone, isn`t it?

PS: Good deal there!

Karl

There a recorded audio sample.

The mic is a cheap cardioid audio-technica ATR20 as overhead. I used Adobe Audition and I didn't do any touch up, direct to MP3 file.

You have the choice of the file I uploaded or Putfile

Thanks for posting the sound clip mind_drummer. A metalic edge yet with a woody stick sound over the deep wash underneath.Quite the depth of pitch to that pie and very strong bell. The crash was very full and deep. Very interesting cymbal with lots of character!
