Default If you could be a riff, which riff would you be?

All right?

I was talking to my guitarist about this the other day, just for a laugh. Take any riff, and think of it following you everywhere you go. Kind of like your soundtrack or something, it's a funny thought and takes a while to ponder. Eventually I decided on:

A. Davidian by Machine head (Outro)

or

B. Eyes of a Criminal by Chimaira (Outro also)

Have fun, and take care.

The beginning riff in the title track on OSI's album "Free".

Just incredibleness...

I love the guitar riff from She Said She Said by the Beatles. Plus riffs from many Incubus songs: Cirlces, Under My Umbrella, and too many to count.

Oh. And Kashmir by Led Zepellin. That's just harcore.

The very famous opening guitar riff from the song, My Girl, by the Temptations. See if you have heard it.

Drive west on sunset
To the sea
Turn that jungle music down
Just until were out of town
This is no one night stand
Its a real occasion
Close your eyes and you'll be there
Its everything they say
The end of a perfect day
Distant lights from across the bay

yea, that me............

my riffs would be:

"Heartbreaker" by Led Zeppelin

"Voodoo Chile" by Jimi Hendrix

"Highway Star" by Deep Purple

"Take your Whiskey Home" by Van Halen

"Suicide Solution" by Ozzy

"Mr. Scary" by Dokken

I could keep going so many cool riffs out there
But these are just a few off the top of my head.

Back in Black, AC/DC. Not even a major fan as such, but I just love this simple riff. In Australia we have a game show called 'Rock Wizz', and the house band plays this going into a segment of the contest. I wait every week for it. I'm hooked.

Bass line to Ready Fire Aim by Family Groove Company, or maybe bassline to The Grand Wazoo by Frank Zappa. OR Sunshine of Your Love by Cream... or the opening riff to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band... Or Chalkpit by JTQ... Too hard to decide!

OK, if I had to pick just one, then my original number 2, the Grand Wazoo's bass line. So simple, and yet, so good.

Riff wise - it's gotta be the Footprints bassline (the version off Miles Smiles) - it's just awesome.

As a general theme tune I would say - All Along the Watchtower (Hendrix version).

The intro riff of Flyleaf's song "There for you". Or Ilse DeLange's intro to "waterfall".

I guess mine would have to be the drum riff from Roseanna.. That Porcaro/Perdie shuffle is really one of the sweetest things ever done on a drum set...

Peace!

Sometimes, i do, depends if i get enough time, good show though. They need new guests though they are just recycling the same set over and over, it's still great but it will get old.

Yeah. They're very similar shows, but aimed at differet audiences. Rock Wizz is the 'less classier' version, filmed at The Espy (a great pub in St Kilda), rather then in a studio like S&S's. It's also not edited in the same way S&S's is; they dont re-record sections to make them better. RW is raw and basically (aside from the huge delay in filming to telecast times) live.
... and RW has a live band and often an intoxicated audience

i would have to be the opening riff in Bulls on Parade by Rage Against the Machine.

simple, yet gets me so pumped every time i hear it! its just so infectious!
although most of Rage's riffs are like this, this one just gets me every time.

Actually, if I could be a riff I'd be the main theme in A minor from the 3rd movement of Beethoven's 7th symphony.

To others my riff is probably a base line to an insane clown posse song, but I like to think my riff would be the bass line to "hatesong" by Porcupine Tree. Awesome.
