Default Buttkicker...Will it work for me?

Heres my situation...

I listen to music on my Ipod through my headphones, and I play along while to the drums while here in my basement, simple.

Now what I want to know is how the Buttkicker will allow me to feel my bass. Can I do this with just my Ipod and headphones, or do I need expensive equipment such as receivers etc.

This is the exact one, I want it because of the sale, Will this work for me or not? (one more thing, does it shake when I hit my bass drum, or when it detects low frequencies in my music?)

yes, it should work no problem
and it shakes with the low frequencies in the music (the way you are setting it up...if you mic your kit then it could shake with the kick if you wanted it too).

The ButtKicker gets its own feed - ideally, just the kick - and needs its own amp. It should get a 'send' from the kick channel, and it helps to have a separate EQ or crossover to focus the signal; the ButtKicker works in the 5-200hz range. I use 2 ButtKickers with an Ashley crossover and a Crown K2 amp.

You don't really need phones or in-ears to use the ButtKicker, but the overall experience is better if you can isolate outside noises and control your mix.

So I have to mic my kit to use it? It doesn't come with a little trigger or anything?

that a look at the pic at the bottom
look at the left half
in other words yes it will work fine you would just need a headphone splitter
plug the buttkicker in one side
and your headphones in the other

even if it doesn't work the way I want, I can find tons of uses for it on my computer and xbox. For $59 it's sold. Thanks for the help

I haven't heard of it being used on its own without a feed from a mic. Basically, if you're playing loud enough to require a ButtKicker, you would be in a mic'd situation anyway.

I don't know if a trigger would work, but you'd still need a separate amp and some way to regulate the signal from the trigger. No telling how it would feel compared with the dynamics of a real mic.

ButtKicker 'GAMER' comes with its own (built in) 100 watt amp. You would need a mic and mixer (to boost the mic signal) for your bass drum if live bass drum monitoring.

For listening/practicing to songs (and feeling the recorded kick/low end), its all there.

There is a HUGE difference between that and the ButtKicker, just as there is a HUGE difference between sitting on a drum throne on a gig, and sitting in a chair in front of the computer.

Just for reference, the ButtKicker is the musical label for the driver Guitammer makes for IMAX theaters. :)

John Legend's Swiss Chris's Butt Kicker Life

Great tool.

I had one of Fischer amps, and later a more pro model from HearSafe.

But nothing can beat the ButtKicker. Thats for shure.
