Default why i love ebay...

so i got a bargain on ebay.......a grand total of 50$ after shipping

it's a 16"x13" walburg and auge bass drum....it may not seem like much of a bargain...but i've been wanting a vintage drum to convert for a jazz bass drum for a while now.

so when i got it in, i immediately stripped it....i primed the drum and will be painting it at work sometime nest week...i'm saving for a trip so it will be a couple weeks before i get spurs and new hoops for it....i also plan on putting a fiberskin reso on it, and i'm not quite sure what kind of batter yet, but i've got awhile to figure it out...any suggestions?

Very cool drum. With a Fiberskyn reso. I'd run either an Ambassador batter (and you could always run a felt strip if you needed) or a Powerstroke3.

If that hardware isn't too beat, I would clean it up and re-use it. That would make a real circa 40's jazz drum.

i've already got the hardware bead balsted and ready to go back on...it's kind of a duller chrome than original, but no rust......i plan on going metal flake gold for the paint but i'm not quite sure yet

My drum teacher told me that you shouldn't alter vintage drums unless you have to becasue it will never sound the same.

i think it will be okay, i already redid the bearing edges, so they are as close to perfect as possible....and it's been painted a few times before

I find it hard to believe that drums that old will stay true round.

that's really all i'm worried about, but i've measured every way i can think of and it seems to be pretty round, not perfect, but i think it's the price i pay for such a cool drum...
