Thats pretty cool. I think Neil Peart has those, just in the double pedal form. I dont see how it could be worth dropping a few hundred extra would be worth it though.

Gold is for peasants...I'll only play instruments which are cast platinum, with diamond studding throughout.

If you're gonna do it right, do it right...am I right?

Sorry ya'll but that's ugly and I believe Peart's is a 9000 not the 5000 series. Either way $300 just for looks, no thanks won't make them play better.

Uranium 235 FTW
who doesn't want a glowing radioactive pedal???

personally, I find the pedal a bit over the top to market for consumers, but I suppose people will buy it.

Ridiculous. Marketed for rich teenagers and 40 year old wallstreet hobbyists. And maybe Neil Peart, but he gets a pass.

That's what I think of most high-end double pedals, but what do I know?

Maybe there's something about a foot pedal that should have some humility. Gold-plating sticks is acceptable because your hands touch them. A foot pedal gets stepped on so maybe subconsciously people think it shouldn't be pimped out.

I think it looks cool.

It definately looks cool. But it's also one of those things that'll either wind up unused in a display case or wind up on ebay due to the buyer going WOW!!!! and then going. I can't play this, It'll depreciate! What was I thinking? And it's probably just as functional and sturdy as a regular 5000, too. Of course I'm one to talk. In my closet right now is a dusty old shoebox containing a genuine Luke Skywalker lightsaber hilt that I just HAD to get years and years ago. After about a week of oggling the thing I regretted shelling out a paycheck on it. It's worth at least a years supply of drumsticks. Hmmm... maybe I'll throw it on Ebay and see what happens.

I think you're right. If I had this pedal, I'd be afraid of scratching off the gold plating and nobody would want a beat-up gold plated pedal.

I think that anyone who doesn't have this pedal on the top of their 2008 wish list, just doesn't get it.

When TAMA went out with their Chrome plated IC last year, people who tried them said they were so beautiful but couldn't feel right under their feet because it was too slippery if used with sock only so I think it should be about the same with this gold plated DW pedal.

If I had that pedle I would never, ever play it. I'd put it into a class case and show it to my kiddies when I get older, who knows real gold might be hard to get in 15 years.
