Default Older Remo Heads

Speaking of drumheads.....if I could get my hands on older Remo Ambassador Coated Weatherkings, specifically in the snare size, I'd be real happy.

Remo once upon a time had the market cornered. Clearly not anymore.

They changed the formula, years ago, and now this standard just doesn't sound right, most noticeably on the snare coated size. They have less resonance, almost to the point of sounding muffled. The differentiator is the little star shaped circle below the Made In USA. If it has this star, its the new formula.

I was told by a local drum dealer that they changed the formula due to CA EPA regulations.

So now I try to collect as many good vintage Ambassadors and supplement with Evans G1's which are at least closer to the original Remos.

Shame on them.

While I heard that the formula change was dure to EPA regulations, I am going to have to disagree with you on the sound - the sound has been unaffected to my ear.
