Very very nice kits barry, i like the vintage style and planning to purchase dw 6000 hardware, what do you think of the 6500 hihatstand? how sturdy is it it, it looks like it could break very easily, and how is the feel playing it, is it accurate?

thanks in advance!

...swiNg

My 6500 hihat stand is one of the older, first generation style ones. DW has changed the way the footboard and the legs are mounted on their newer ones, so I can not say how they are for feel. This one that I have is very sturdy, and has a really good feel to it. I switched the hinge for one of those delta bearing types, but I have not noticed a significant difference. I usually use this stand with the el sabor hats which are pretty heavy, and the stand holds up very well. One complaint that I do have about this stand is that it does wobble a bit, probably due to the way the legs and foot board sit. I am not a real heavy hitter, so this stand is more than sturdy enough for me. If a person was to really pound on it, I don't know how it would hold up, still, I would strongly recomend it to anyone looking for a good quality, lightweight sturdy hi hat stand.

Here is a drivers seat view of the kit, and the stand.

You can see the cannister throne, of which I swapped the original seat for a roc n soc.

This holds all of the 6000 series hardware, with room to spare, and is almost as comfortable as my couch.

If you do decide to pick one up, or try one out, let me know what you think of it.

I have a big kit but I like playing small ones so I set me DW up on a nice day to look at it. Looks a bit weird cos I didn't play it so some of the angles are rather odd. This was last summer so a few bits have changed since (lovely white reso now! yayy!)

Normally a 7 piece

I love that finish, very nice. I thing the advantage if having a large kit is you always have the option to set up a smaller one. ;-)

All the great DW kits very nice!

You need to upload them to a server somewhere and then link to the pics.

Search the web for free photo hosting, they are all over the place. You ISP may even offer it.

Click on your link, then copy the complete URL in your address bar. paste that in the field after you click the insert image button.

Beautiful kit by the way.

Okay, I'll play. Here's a couple pics of my 89' Keller shelled, snow-white pearl DW's. The only drum not in the pic is the 18" floor tom.

Here is one of the better photos I have of the road kit:

16x22" bass drum, 8x10" tom, 13x15" tom and a 5 x14" Aluminum snare drum. The finsihply is called Black Swirl, predecessor to the Black Velvet finish. There is a 9x12" tom that I use with this kit as well.

That's a cool kit!

The other kits (in the thread) shown have been sweet too, but this one really caught my eye....even though I play Ludwig...:P
Your other kits are cool as well btw....

Your drum room looks like mine haha!

...Thank you, and I have to commend you on your taste.

These are "my" drums, the other kits are kind of like foster children. I have them now, but they will one day find a new home were they will be loved and taken care of in a way that I am not able to.

Regarding my drum room, I call it the shrine, my wife calls it the Man room.... I think I like the term Paradise.

The short stacks sound huge for their size. I would put them up to deeper drums any day. Check out the sounds on my bands website, see links in signature. The 20x20" kick does get a little thin sounding in the wrong playing situation/rooms but I have it loaded with the AKG D112 and running into a 15" macki sub so that solves that.

Maybe someone will post some pics of the DW booth?

I moved to Texas so I don't get to go to the winter NAMM any more.

The Summer NAMM here is OK but it is not even close to Anaheim :-(

The new lugs are kind of cool. Look a lot to me like Gretsch's new classic lugs. I am one of many who dislike their original lug design so this peaks my interest. Check out that mega glitter finish that Macmarkus posted too.

EDIT: Gutenberg: I just saw your post. DW puts their "DW logo" stock heads on the PDP kits, too, so that is definitely a Pacific kit. Maybe a new series?

i think they are. a lot of there new stuff seems to be leaning towards the custom end of things. they're putting out a boat load of new 805 finishes. i got my eye on the black with neon green hardware. it looks like a really classy set. like above lxe. i can't wait.

maybe dogbreath or bernhard could get us some pics from our friends at pdp? thanks.
